Judas Tree

Native to the Eastern Mediterranean region, uncommon in NZ. Broadly spreading, deciduous. Masses of deep mauve pea-like flowers in clusters along the old shoots, branches and trunk before the leaves emerge. Very impressive. Thrives in drier sites. A great decorative tree.
